DI-710-EL, Windaq, Windows 10
Hello, My main issue is with the Hardware manager. The manager does not see the 3 units i have unless i set them up as remotes. I can never see the units in the "Manage IP addresses" window. I would think that it cannot detect the mac addresses. I have
Odd multi-channel behavior
I've developed a pretty robust Python3 interface for the DI-1100 for a project I'm working on. The device works really well. I like it a lot, and I can get arbitrarily high sampling rates with efficient Python code. However, when I use multiple channels, the channels after the first one have a two-sample offset (delay). This is consistent regardless of sampling rate. Attached are screenshots of the captures with a 500Hz sinusoid and sampling rates of 2kHz and 8kHz. You can see the 2-sample "skew"
Mostly curious: why S/R 2000 Hz for 1 channel, 200 Hz for two or more on the DI-2008
I was a bit disappointed to learn that -- although you can get a sampling rate of 2000 Hz for one channel -- as soon as you go to two channels it drops to 200 Hz. Is there a good explanation for why that is? More importantly: if you use one of the software
Cannot find DLL for device.
I have a DI-148U. After I install the latest software on my Windows 7 64-bit machine, the DATAQ Instruments Hardware Manager sees the USB device, but complains when I press the "Start Windaq" button: "Cannot find DLL for device." Is there anything I
DI-4108-U - Only Channel 1 data collected and Wrong date/time
We got a DI-4108-U to collect pH signal from 6 different pH transmitters. We have connected two pH transmitters so far, to channels 1 and 2, with a 250 ohms resistor, 4-20mA output. The 'Button' was pushed to start and stop recording data. USB was removed
DI-2108 Stand-alone Mode RTC accuracy and drift
I'm planning to use a DI-2108 or DI-2108-P in stand-alone mode, set up to "Record on Power Startup" via the WinDaq Dashboard. I'm a long time DI-148U user so I'm familiar with recording in real-time using WinDaq & having the PC's time synchronized to
WinDaq Dashboard fails to launch WinDaq SW
If my Windows 10 system goes to sleep while the WinDaq SW is running, I get a dialog panel that the system may have gone to sleep, etc. But thereafter, if I try to launch it again from the WinDaq dashboard (via the Start WinDaq Software button), a splash
New user - DI-2008 and DI-2008P
Novice user here. Looking to connect HMP60 sensors to either DI-2008 or DI-2008-P. It seems for the DI-2008-P I will need to supply the 15v source, looks like Dataq power supply 101086 is appropriate. For the DI-2008, I will have the USB connected
EMG Measurement with DI-245
Hi guys, I am trying to measure emg signal with DI-245. I downloaded Windaq free version, and I set 100 hz frequency and gain is 1000. I cannot see any change of signal. I do not know the reason why I cannot measure anything.
How do you determine memory usage for a 710EHS
How do you determine memory usage for a 710EHS per sample rate for x number of channels. I thought I saw a calculator on this site at one time but can't find it now.
DI-2008 USB doesn't show in hardware manager, buzz then chimes?
Hello. My DI-2008 when i plug it into the mac (I am using VMware to run the DATAQ) via USB, i usually get a chime, today i get a buzz, then the chime and the hardware manager doesn't recognize the device. Windows 10 shows it as a bulk device VMware knows about it, is set to allow it when detected I think i had to do something on the mac side (privacy) when i first got it, but i cannot remember the critical step, and see nothing in the privacy settings. It has worked before... thanks for any help.
Windaq change default directory
How do I change the default directory where Windaq saves logged data?
DI-2108 CDC mode binary encoding
I have a DI-2108 in CDC mode which I have recording a single channel with ASCII encoding. When I try to switch to binary encoding (encode 0) I am not getting anything back from the unit. Curiously, if I put it in binary mode and start logging, wait for a while, stop logging, then switch to ascii encoding (encode 1), it dumps a bunch of ascii readings before echoing the encode 1 response. Is there some kind of additional handshaking required in binary mode that I've missed? ASCII mode log: DI-2108
Monitor DC solenoid actuation with DI-2108
I have an old logic board that I'd like to convert over to PLC, but the timings of the 24 VDC solenoid valves are sporadic and over an 8 hour period. I have never used a DATAQ instrument but I believe that I should just be able to connect the + terminal of the DAQ to the solenoid operation and the - side of the daq to a system ground. Would this just work as described to monitor voltage levels? I am also concerned about reverse current from the solenoid switching that could possibly cause damage
Windows 10 setup executable
Is there a download file for OM-EL-USB-2-LCD plus for windows 10?
DI-2008 ASCII mode support - or Javascript samples for binary mode ?
Hello Is ASCII mode planned to be supported in some near future versions of firmware in DI-2008 ? I'm reading page 38 from https://www.dataq.com/resources/pdfs/misc/Dataq-Instruments-Protocol.pdf that it's not supported for DI-2008. I would like to know if firmware could be modified to support it or should we look for other solutions ? We are considering using multiple DI-2008's for measuring thermocouples with multiple Raspberry Pi units, located at few manufacturing plants as part of QA-testing.
presenting RMS with multiple channels
Hi, I am successfully presenting 1 channel with RMS values on my windaq dashboard connected to the DI 1100, but as soon as I am anableing 2 channels it starts presenting growing graphs although there in no change in the input voltage, Can you please advise on what seems to be the problem? KR, Elad
DI-1100 SDK problem
I have recently downloaded the most recent SDK version, and have been trying to get it working with my DI-1100. I have tried running the vb.net example found in the folder 'Windows Platform .Net library - v2'. It finds the device, but when I try and start data acquisition, it gets to line 84: Await TargetDevice.ReadDataAsync(cancelRead.Token) Then hangs indefinitely. I have also tried writing my own code, and the device always hangs at the ReadDataAsync call. However, this code is based on the example,
RMS presentation with the DI 1100
Hi, I have a pure sine 50 Hz input p2p of 200mV. I tried to present its' RMS values with no luck. I set an adequate window size and it has no effect. In the channel settings I can't mark the RMS acquisition method, any idea way? thanks
Configuring the DI-1110 Digital Ports as Switches
All of the descriptive information about the DI-1110 says that all seven of the digital ports can be configured as switches, giving advice on maximum voltage and current, but despite considerable searching in Help, the manual and the available documentation, I cannot find out how this is done. I also noodled around in Setup mode and didn't find it. How is this accomplished?
Worked DI-2008 slist example
I figured out my problem in writing up a question. Here is the corrected write-up for posterity. To understand the slist command, decode the example given for a DI-2008 (p. 40): slist 0 2562 slist 1 2564 slist 2 3078 slist 3 9 slist 4 10 slist 5 8 Here is how to calculate slist 2 3078. The slist command has form: slist <zero-offset> <16-bit config word> The <zero-offset> determines the sampling order. The <16-bit config word> defines the function (i.e. input/rate/count) and scale/thermocouple. For
Export data playback to movie format
Greetings, Does the DATAQ playback software allow a real time playback or possibly an export to a movie file that will playback in real time? I'd like to import to a video and superimpose the real world things going causing the behavior on the strip chart recording.
Ethernet Interface
It is not at all clear from the Protocol Documentation as to how to initiate communications over the Ethernet interface on a DI-4208-E. I can issue a "dataq_instruments" on UDP port 1235 and see appropriate response on port 1234. What I am not clear on is whether I can use an ASCI command like "info 1<CR>" over port 51235. It does not seem to work on either port 51235 or 1235. Are the ASCI commands not valid over UDP? I also do not quite understand the structure of the commands. struct Command {
Extract Data from USB thumb drive through ethernet port in DI-4108 model.
Hi. Is there any way to extract the data stored in the USB memory through the ethernet port remotely? Is it possible to create an application for this purpose by using command protocol? I need to install an instrument in a place of difficult access. The idea is to interact via 4G and ethernet network. The equipment will always be in stand alone mode.
Changing AnalogueIn Hardware Range max & mins
Is it possible to change the 'Hardware Range' for Dataq.Devices.DI2008.AnalogVoltageIn channel while acquiring or at least without calling AcqusitionStopAsync()/Start? Which seems to take some time to return. Reason is, that I would like to do some sort of Auto-Scaling on a channel if the voltage being measure starts to exceed the current Max/Min's Similar to a auto ranging multimeter type operation. Paul
DI-1100 generating event with side button
Can you please give details on how to generate event mark pressing the button on device side? When I run WinDaq software and press this button no mark is displayed in oscilloscope or scrolling mode.
DI-1100 in CDC mode?
Is it possible to put device in CDC mode and made it visible as a virtual COM-port? I follow link from Dataq-Instruments-Protocol.pdf document https://www.dataq.com/blog/data-acquisition/usb-daq-products-support-libusb-cdc/, and when 'Active' LED turns yellow I see the device in Device Manager panel as 'virtual COM Port', but it says 'Device Driver Not Found'
Wireless Transmission of Data from Sensor to DAQ System
Is there a way to transmit data from a sensor to a DAQ system wirelessly? Like through Bluetooth? I know there are a lot of DAQ systems with bluetooth capabilities for transmitting data to a laptop, but what about the collection of data from a sensor wirelessly? Noah Hendershot
Pre-Trigger data
I don't see a way to save pre-trigger data to a file. Is this function available?
DI-245 not detected by example program
Hi, I am new to this type of programming. I am working on writing a customized software for a device built using DI-245. I started with downloading the DATAQ Instruments library and loaded DI-245 example project in Visual Studio 2017 on Win10. It compiles and runs without any error. However, it is unable to detect the device connected via USB. Can you help me figure out what am I doing wrong? Just to give an idea, this is a research project and the device detects air flow rate and time; the air flow
Power supply
I have a sensor that requires 15-30 VDC to power. Can I do this using the model DI-1100? And if not, what do I need?
how to correctly set DI-1100 srate with Linux
Hi, I'm using DI-1100 along with Linux for my research and I'm facing some issues when I try to read from the device. First of all, I'm following this documentation for protocol communication (https://www.dataq.com/resources/pdfs/misc/Dataq-Instruments-Protocol.pdf), and gently following this code (https://github.com/dataq-instruments/Python/blob/master/binary_comm/DI-1100/DI_1100.py). This code and this document (https://www.dataq.com/resources/pdfs/misc/DI-1100-Protocol.pdf, page 6) mention that
Packet structure
Is there a document that shows the packet structure over the ethernet? I may have to integrate into a current software suite.
Real time
Hi! I'm an user of DI 718 Datalogger. We would like to analyze in real time the temperature data acquired by DI-178B datalogger (Sample rate 100Hz/channel) without using Windaq program. Filling a database directly... or export to real time to Excel, .csv or similar format. It is possible somehow? We need to process data extremely fast and in automated way. In case our device is not capable but there is one that can with a similar or higher sample rate and allows the processing of data online please
DI-2108 clock time is off?
I have a simple distance transducer set up with the DI-2108 to measure actuator stroke vs time. When recording data the displayed/recorded data shows quicker than actual rate. (ie. physical actuator stroke time = 5 seconds with stopwatch, WinDaq shows time for stroke =3-4 seconds). Any ideas?
DI-245 THERMOCOUPLE ISSUES
We purchased a DI-245 a while back and have finally began using it. We coupled it with Type J thermocouples from thermetrics and installed the Dataq software. An ice slurry to calibrate and we’re ready to go. All 4 sensors read the ambient temps correctly however once placed in a refrigerated test case (running between 29-38°f) the readings are roughly 18°f lower as compared with a several hand held digital thermometers. Can you offer any suggestions?
What type of software does this device use?
It looks like this device is a Windows only item? Anyone have experience with this device, such as plugging it into a Linux box?
Analog carbon monoxide sensor
Anyone know of an analog carbon monoxide sensor that works with a Dataq device?
GL840M current readings
I need to be able to read amperages of 4 different circuits. Can you attach more than one GS-DPA-AC to the GL840M to read more than two currents?
Odd behavior using CPM and counter input on DI-155
I had a DI-155 handy and hooked the count input to a Geiger Counter output. I set the channel setting to CPM. Its not doing this correctly. It does not seem to be using a minute avg. If there are 3 counts super quickly together the count jumps way up. But if those counts are spaced by a few seconds each the count is way lower even tho they are during the same minute period. If you give it 1 count per minute, it does not display this. The 1 count stays there for like 3 seconds and then goes back to
