I have an old logic board that I'd like to convert over to PLC, but the timings of the 24 VDC solenoid valves are sporadic and over an 8 hour period. I have never used a DATAQ instrument but I believe that I should just be able to connect the + terminal of the DAQ to the solenoid operation and the - side of the daq to a system ground. Would this just work as described to monitor voltage levels? I am also concerned about reverse current from the solenoid switching that could possibly cause damage the DAQ, should I be worried about this? I have to monitor these outputs while the entire process is running.
